The Most Recent Minecraft Snapshot Adds 'Wither Boss,' Baked Potatoes, And Invisibility Potions

The latest install-at-your-own-risk Minecraft update (snapshot "12w34a") is now available over at the official Mojang blog. After installation, there are many fundamental modifications to the way maps and nether portals function. Additionally, you'll get new items, things you can make from said items, and most likely the coolest creature ever.

Dubbed the "Wither Boss," this new baddie is a three-headed floating skeleton body that shoots explosive skulls from each head. While it's not clear whether the creature is actually in the game, the files are still available and can be hacked into if you have any death wishes (as Sethbling demonstrated).

This update also includes potatoes and carrots The former is a reagent for baking potatoes, and the latter is a crucial ingredient in invisibility potion, of all things. The potion will make you invisible to all mobs around you however it will not affect your armor and other items. It's not wise to pour a baked potato over your own head.
