What is Gulab Jamun Cake?
As the name says, Gulab Jamun Cake is a fusion dessert that combines the flavors of traditional Indian sweetmeat Gulab Jamun with the concept of a Western-style cake.
This cake consists of layers of soft, moist cake flavored with cardamom and rose water, to match with the flavors of gulab jamun. Gulab Jamun is often made from milk solids, and flavored with cardamom and soaked in a sugary syrup infused with rose water.
Gulab Jamun cake is made in different ways. In some recipes, Gulab jamun mix powder is used while others, cardamon and sugary syrup are used to give it a taste of Gulab Jamun
How to Make Gulab Jamun Cake?
First of all, collect the following ingredients:
For Cake
To make one pound cardamom Pound
- 2 sticks of softened unsalted butter, plus 1 tablespoon for greasing
- 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour (about 165 g)
- One-fourth cup of dried nonfat milk powder (about 35 g)
- 1 cup of granulated sugar (about 220 g)
- A three-fourth teaspoon of ground cardamom
- Half a teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs

For Gulab Jamun Syrup
- 1 cup of water (about 240 mL)
- 1 cup of granulated sugar (about 220 g)
- Half a teaspoon of saffron threads
- 8 slightly crushed cardamom pods
- cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon of rose water
- 2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice
