Deepworld Launches Kickstarter Project To Help Fund A Mac Beta

Deepworld is a 2D Sandbox-style building platform that is similar to Minecraft. I met them at GDC in March and told them it would be much bigger than they expected. They have a lot of experience in the development of servers and software, however, running a game this large requires an investment of significant size. They appear to have reached an agreement. Kickstarter was created to raise funds in the early stages of development and servers.

The group is offering a variety of prizes to their supporters, including your own servers and worlds, as well as art books and other merchandise. Minecraft Servers can also consider buying your own items, names, and even pictures for the game. The goal is to raise $20,000 in total and at the time of writing, the group has raised around $4,000. They intend to make the project a full-time job and this money will enable them to do this.

I wish them all the best. Deepworld looks nice and, as I mentioned when I first saw it I think the Mac (and iOS) would benefit from a game like this.
