Going to BlizzCon? No? Why not? It's the '90s! Everyone's going to conventions lately!

Sure, it is in Southern California, and for a lot of you, that's a long way from dwelling. But man, that is the '90s. They have planes now. And some of these planes even have air phones. You may hook up your 14.4k modem to a kind of and connect to your favorite Warcraft 2 BBS, maybe play a little Legend of the Crimson Dragon from 20,000 ft. Why not? It is the '90s!

What's that? You say it isn't the '90s -- it's 2011? Effectively, of course it is! I do know precisely what as we speak is. See this Casio digital watch on my wrist? It has the day, week, month, and year on it. Everybody's obtained one -- everybody, that is, who's dwelling within the '90s.

BlizzCon, the hottest event of the '90s, is developing in a mere two weeks. So today, along with the same old question of "What are you enjoying?" (Tremendous Nintendo and Scattergories, obvi), I had our high-notch writers (lots of whom have Tripod pages) answer a bonus question: "What terrific advice do you've gotten for the go-go BlizzCon attending people of the '90s?"

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend shall be spent finishing my entry for the global Writing Contest -- in other phrases, writing like a madwoman.

As for BlizzCon -- be sure you could have plenty of water alongside, the convention hall is greater than it looks! Show up for panels early, examine the events schedule and determine what you want to hit upfront. Also -- comfy sneakers. Critically, you may be in your feet just about all day lengthy. Comfy footwear are one of the best!

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I will be going to another marriage ceremony this weekend but will in any other case be on the PTR getting notes for an upcoming Shifting on tanking and healing the three new 5-mans.

As for BlizzCon, I have yet to go, but if I had to guess from past experiences with academic conferences and the like, have only one bit of advice: Don't put on heels.

Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) (gplus.to/alexziebart) Been taking part in some Lifeless Island and hopefully will get a hefty amount of co-op time in with a buddy of mine. Good coop video games are far more rare than they ought to be.

For BlizzCon, take more shirts than you assume you will want. For those who get tremendous-sweaty, stop into your lodge room and alter shirts. It is higher than being smelly and uncomfortable all day.

Chase Hasbrouck First WRUP /yay. Persevering with my feral soloing in challenge in WoW (when Kuwaiti latency allows), else taking part in SpaceChem on Steam. All the fun of programming with out the code!

BlizzCon: never been, however experience has taught me all the time to comply with the 3 W's when touring: water, weight, and walking (comfortably).

Daniel Desmond (@hazmacewillraid) I will be doing a little bit little bit of PTR spelunking, trying out the brand new dungeons and paladin adjustments, but principally I'll be scratching just a few more tallies into my wall with a plastic spoon, counting the days till Skyrim releases.

As for BlizzCon, this will be my first! As such, I will be sticking to my guildmates like black leather-based seats on a scorching summer season day.

Daniel Whitcomb (@DanielWhitcomb) Since my mage and warrior are on hold till the 4.3 goes live, I may see if I can solo me some more tier 5 for my warlock. I'm also enjoying some Aquaria and Bastion (again) on Steam, so I might do some more with these games.

My recommendation? Hygiene. Specifically, double-, triple-, and quadruple-verify your journey bag. For those who miss one thing like a toothbrush or a shaving package, chances are you will must pay an arm and a leg to exchange it.

Daybreak Moore (@dawnwow) Not playing anything this weekend, however I'll be watching a number of StarCraft 2 and League of Legends at IPL3.

Recommendation for BlizzCon? Hmm ... Ready within the badge choose-up line isn't needed if you do not must be the primary one into opening ceremonies. Simply decide up your badge whereas everyone is in line for the ceremonies and you'll be in and out in 5 minutes.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm still on my honeymoon in NYC, however after i get back I will in all probability start AC: Brotherhood, since my AC2 disc is scratched and I do not think I can finish.

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) I've been in Philly for a strong a part of the week, and I will be staying in Philly throughout the weekend hanging with my buddy Chester. All kinds of enjoyable will probably be had. Like today, I ate Dutch meals. We're a terribly boring people, we Dutch.

My BlizzCon recommendation: If you wish to hang out with Fox, I recommend you get your request in forward of time, because there are lots of you, only a few nights in beautiful Southern California, and only one Fox. Further, I advise anybody who just isn't from an area with Jack in the Field restaurants to go eat at a Jack within the Box restaurant. Oh my god.

Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Extra LoL, I've a brand new champion to be taught! Also more alt leveling in WoW and actually trying ahead to another select my journey day Sunday; I am going to most likely begin earlier (3 p.m.) this week and go till 5. I'll also be livestreaming the adventure, so make certain to look at Twitter for the link and time!

Biggest BlizzCon blunder: not carrying snug and supportive footwear. Significantly, you stand and walk a lot that you're a fool if you don't. Additionally, the quantity of pain your ft can be in can be stunning. Also, drink / bring numerous water and attempt to eat outdoors of the convention center. Heaps of fine native places to nom things at that are a fast stroll from the convention center.

Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I am liking my military of premade and predominant-transferred shaman on the PTR. I also have a lone mage premade who was set up with spec/glyphs/keybinds/and so on. and then promptly forgotten.

I have no BlizzCon advice, although I warning all Wow Insider meetup attendees to keep away from eye contact with Fox. That's simply widespread sense, though.

Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Hoping for some quality time with my DS, but I am undecided, as I will be working at my job, doing artwork, and it is Thanksgiving up right here in Canada-land, so there's that. I will be heading out of city Sunday evening to see my household.

BlizzCon recommendation? Take the well being-test:

Convey numerous water with you.

Put on comfy sneakers (with insoles if essential). Remember to stretch your lower again every hour or so!

Convey some protein-wealthy snacks with you -- pure meals bars, dry-roasted nuts (like almonds and cashews). Con meals is overpriced and stuffed with crap, and this will keep you fuller longer. /health nerd

Suggestions for BlizzCon: convey a bottle of water if you possibly can, take things sluggish, put on comfy footwear, and buy Mat McCurley drinks at the WoW Insider Reader Meetup.

Matt Low (@matticus) In a change of pace, enjoying on my Nintendo DS. Replaying some Final Fantasy VI! Minecraft server list -- ever!

Matt Rossi (@matthewrossi) (gplus.to/MatthewWRossi) My hand is absolutely screwed up now, so dangerous I don't assume I can play a lot of anything. (I'm typing this one-finger, hunt-and-peck style).

As for BlizzCon, I've by no means been.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Some Sword of the Stars with some buddies, for (possible) final sport before the sequel comes out. We'll send the outdated girl off in style. I am going to also be getting some critical Minecraft time in since my guild's server was down final week. Need to make up for lost time!

This will only be my second BlizzCon, however the biggest factor I picked up final 12 months is to be really early to something you wish to go to -- panels or whatever. Aside from badge pickup on Thursday evening. It is open for hours and badges aren't limited in the identical means seats or area is. No need to point out up early for that line; go later that night time and coast right via to pickup.
