History

The origin of the University found in the name of the University College of South Wales and Monmouth shire in1883. In 1893. as a founding college, it became known as the University of Wales. In the year of 1997, the institute gained popularity with granting degrees to the students. In1988, It became collaborated with the renowned university, the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology. In 2005, the university is given its legal name Cardiff University. It was then well-known as an independent university with the beginning of awarding degrees. Therefore, the institution is the third oldest university in Wales and the only Welsh member of the Russell Group of research-based universities. Cardiff University consists of 26 academic schools. The schools are categorized into three colleges named, College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, College of Arts & Humanities, College of Social Sciences, and the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences.

Student Life

The Students’ Union is a mouthpiece of university students. They remain active from the freshers’ week to the Alumni night and give services to special needs and interests. So students feel better to get involved with these activities and love Cardiff. The Cardiff community is strong enough to contribute from arts and culture to local neighbourhood improvements. Students from different countries gather here and arrange community meetings. The student union fights back against any offenses and changed the penalty procedures recently in Section 46 Law. The community works regularly with the local Police to ensure safety in the city.

Living Accommodation

Living in Cardiff is affordable as well as comfortable. There are available halls of residence or private rented accommodation where students can find lively and peaceful living places. Students feel at home here because of its availability within a walking distance or a very short bus ride. Interesting shops, restaurants and cafes, Cardiff Market (designed in Victorian structure), boutiques increase its’ popularity. Local and national bus/coach services are available in Cardiff. Newport Bus introduces new fully electric bus services. Vintage Bus launched the Double Deck Bus services.
