'Minecraft' Game-making Tutorial Teaches Kids how to Code
Microsoft recognizes that Minecraft can inspire kids to learn programming, and it's betting on that strategy again this year. The Minecraft Hour of Code Designer tutorial teaches children aged 6 and older to make an easy game. Memes Rain It was developed by Microsoft and Code.org. The Designer allows you to easily illustrate common code concepts such as loops or object-oriented programming. It allows you to let your imagination run free in the world of Minecraft. You can create chickens that drop gold and other rules that are as sensible or bizarre as you'd like.
The tutorial is available right now in 10 languages and it will be available in 50 languages when Computer Science Education Week kicks off on December 5th. This isn't the same as picking up the programming language, of course. Microsoft and Code.org hope that this will teach children the importance of programming languages and assist them in starting the path to a career in computer science.
