Minecraft: Education Edition is now Available On Chromebooks

Just just in time for a lot of students to virtually head back to school, Microsoft is bringing the education version of its blocky video game Minecraft to Chromebooks.

The game will be available on Monday, Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebook comes with the same features that are available in the Windows, iPad and Mac versions of the game, and includes multiplayer across platforms, the company stated. The educational version of the game is meant to aid teachers in teaching everything from science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to language, history and art. According to Microsoft, the program has been licensed by thousands of people in more than 115 countries.

In addition, it will be available on Chromebooks, Microsoft said the latest version of the game has new STEM lessons as well as "a special Minecraft world that was created in conjunction in conjunction with the American Beekeeping Federation's Kids and Bees program."

Minecraft Education Edition for Chromebook requires a Microsoft account to login -- the game is licensed by schools through Microsoft 365 for Education -however, the company has said it's working to let users log in with a Google account as well.
