History of Solent University

The Solent University's beginnings were discovered in 1856. The Southampton Institute of

Higher Education was founded in 1984 after the Southampton College of Technology and the College of Nautical Studies were combined. At the time, it was known as the Southampton College of Art. On August 15, 2005, Southampton Solent University was officially adopted as the name of this distinctive institution.

Living Accommodation

Six totally self-catered resident halls are a part ofthe Solent University, and they are all located in the heart of Southampton. There are a total of five student houses in the city centre, all of which are

close to one another and offer modern en-suite rooms, non-en-suite rooms, single and twin study bedrooms, as well as walking streets and parking spaces. Each bedroom has an adjacent kitchen with a microwave, toaster, stove, freezer, and other appliances. Itonly takes fourteen minutes to travel by bus to the University of Southampton Solent campus, thirteen minutes to walk to the University of Southampton Avenue Campus, and fifteen minutes to travel by bus to the University of Southampton Highfield Campus. As a result, towns and cities have roomy parking lots, including airport parking, parking at stadiums and train stations in London.
