Bittersweet 16

I see you losing yourself in the hopelessness of pride, you tried to escape the lies, through defying the inner tyrant, but instead you lost a life, your head boggled with suicide, the hooligan who is tried in front of a jury filled with simpletons, our reconnaissance spotted the losing side, So who am I? Just the proprietor of this story Open your eyes, and take what you can from me As I walk you through the tale of how I survived, Picture an aisle, Gorgeous smiles, choir sounds, Birds chirping, young girls singing, That didn't happen, This union was of no marriage, Born to disperse as soon as cracks settle, but i tell you Out of this union came a carriage, Of a child, with eyes as bright, As the operation room, and soon, He would see, at a young age, That sodom hasn't left us, Gomorrah is next door, Behind the pulpit, they bark, what you talking all that lip for, When some of us, just sit home, And ponder fire and brimstone, Hell, heaven, the real question, Why do we have to die to see hell? Why do we have to die to see heaven? When I grew up to see the whip of corporations, as the corporats reply yes sir master Or drunkards littered in streets, cussing in front of children, Innocence, dead, in a world where heaven is at the grasp of the evil, And the people who work hard, have to go twice the miles on feet crippled, I saw that, although that is not all that I saw, A father walks his son down a park, Hearts join, glances shared, the whole nightmare they live in overshadowed by a simple gesture, Time together, See I found, that life throws you in different directions, In order to put you in the right place, Are you in the right place? A question you all probably ask the mirror when the light fades, A question my father asked when he forgot my birthday, I don't celebrate holidays, I want to, but when your mother wouldn't bother to get a candle on the cake, why stress, Small gestures matter, but to some its hard to comprehend, All my friends, I had, I lost, by circumstance, by chance, Goodbyes not exchanged, though messages sent when loss kicks in, Not enough, it is all not enough, Bittersweet, 16, is the age when it all came to be, When a dream lived, and then died The light in my eyes, snuffed out for years Trapped in a room where nobody heard my tears Until one day, passion lit the flame ablaze See I found out, what i went through will keep happening, Unless I do, something to stop it, So now, it's no options, speak loud, Let the crowd hear ideas, Of equality, combatting ignorance, pursuance of knowledge, Inspiring a whole nation through feelings, words, sounds absurd but that's the mission, Every conversation counts, Every moment, a chance for inspiration, I promised that when it came to me, I would grab my destiny, from the jaws of destiny, Like Augustus when he saw Mark Anthony, Or Alexander when he saw Darius, there is nothing stopping me, For the fragile soul, surrounded by satire coos Shall find that the lands they ruled, desire a new icon To represent the pain we carried, like crosses on our back, Heavy burdens that they’ve never heard of Attacked by demons in every corner Bodyjumping through family members All saying you’ll never make it But I never hesitated I believed And so will you Make the choice.
