History of University of Worcester

Years ago, the University of Worcester's founding was prompted by the University of Birmingham's urgent need for a Teachers Training College. Its first home was a Worcester RAF facility. In addition to opening the Peirson library and obtaining Council for National Academic Awards confirmation for degrees, the Worcester College of Higher Education was founded in 1970.

Three new schools were opened by a new principal in 1978. In 1992, Dorma Urwin took over as the school's new principal, and Coventry University also chose to accredit the degree programmes. In 1997, the college began to grant degrees, and the Privy Council renamed it the University College Worcester the same year. It was granted full university status in 2005, and its name was changed to "University of Worcester." The institution developed and extended numerous things during these years through a sustained strategy.
