Lee Da-hyeon, ahead of her first championship match, “I will prepare harder and leave no regrets”

Da-Hyeon Lee of Hyundai Engineering & Construction is expressing her determination at the 2023-2024 V-League Women's Postseason Media Day held at the Riviera Hotel in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 18th.

Lee Da-hyun (23), a middle blocker for Hyundai Engineering & Construction in women's professional volleyball, who is about to play in her first championship match since her professional debut, expressed her determination, saying, “I will prepare harder so that I will not have any regrets.”

Lee Da-hyun met with reporters ahead of the Dodram V League post-season media day held at the Cheongdam Rivera Hotel on the 18th and shared her thoughts on playing in her first championship match.

Lee Da-hyun said, “I was desperate (to win first place) more than ever because I had not been able to get the opportunity three times,” and “I didn’t want to miss it this year.” So she brought the players closer together,” she said.

It is a special season for Lee Da-hyun, who joined Hyundai Engineering & Construction as the second pick in the first round of the 2019-20 season.

Even though he ranked first in the regular league in his debut season and the 2021-22 season, he was unable to enter the postseason stage both times due to the season ending early due to the COVID-19 incident.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction, which experienced spring volleyball for the first time last season by finishing in second place, was in disarray due to foreign replacements, fell victim to the 'upset' of Korea Expressway Corporation in third place and was eliminated with two consecutive losses.

Lee Da-hyun's fighting spirit burned as she remembered PO last year. He said, “I was a PO last year, but I couldn’t do anything and lost.” He added, “If I have one more chance, I should never do that. Even now, a year later, I am still thinking. “It is still in progress,” he emphasized.

Lee Da-hyun then said, “Because we are no longer young players, we have a sense of responsibility, and I am looking forward to what kind of play we can show and what kind of performance we will have.” When asked whether he had the confidence to become a so-called 'crazy player' in short-term matches, Lee Da-hyun said, "Playing performance is proportional to the amount of practice. “The same goes for confidence,” he said. “You have to prepare hard and diligently. “I will not have any regrets,” he said.

The experience of the first postseason was a painful memory for Lee Da-hyun, but she also gained something.

Lee Da-hyeon said, “Still, I gained a lot last year,” and added, “The road construction sisters were smiling ahead of the PO. (Bae) Yuna came and said, ‘(Now) enjoy your vacation.’ That kind of leisure was surprising. “We will approach it with a sense of enjoyment rather than too much pressure,” he said.

At the media day that followed, he expressed his determination to appear on a big stage by using the four-character idiom 'Yuji Gyeongseong (有志竟成)'. Yoo Ji-gyeongseong, chosen by Lee Da-hyeon, means ‘I have a will and finally achieve it,’ which matches the recent situation of Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
