Warcraft: Khadgar's Life Before Leading the Kirin Tor

One of the most powerful magi in World of Warcraft is the human Khadgar. Khadgar has been a prominent figure ever since the First War ravaged the land as one of the most important guardians of Azeroth during Warlords of Draenor and Legion however, he has taken an undeserved amount of time during these last two expansions. When he makes his grand return in Dragonflight, all of that will change. What the story of his return will be is unknown, but it will surely have major implications for the future of Azeroth.

Khadgar was not always the powerful mage that World of Warcraft players have learned about in their adventures. Spiderman gaming He was a child who was fascinated by magic and wanted to know more about it. He was an avid reader however his life would soon become chaotic when he was forced into becoming a champion for the people. The world of Azeroth could have faced a worse fate without him.

Khadgar's Apprenticeship

When Khadgar was 17, he was sent to apprentice under the great wizard Medivh. To many, including Khadgar, Medivh seemed like nothing more than a kind and eccentric old man. Upon arriving at Karazhan, Medivh would put him to work cleaning his library. As Khadgar wandered, he stumbled upon a room that held a vision of humans fighting against the orcs, and it looked like he was leading the charge. This shocked Khadgar, as he had no idea why he would be leading this army into battle.

One day, Khadgar was attacked by Medivh and was accused of being a thief but the sage promptly apologized after recollecting who Khadgar was. He took him to the south of the kingdom where he was able to climb over gryphons to make amends for the error. Khadgar was fortunate enough to meet his first warlocks and orcs. They also met the Champion Anduin Lothar, who would entice Medivh to join Stormwind's defenses. Medivh refused. In response, Lothar would ask Khadgar to be Medivh's caretaker as he made further doubtful decisions.

Medivh would become more unpredictable and would spend many days alone. Khadgar began to question Medivh's actions and worry that something was terribly wrong with Medivh. He went to meet Garona, half-orc, and began to realize what Medivh was doing. Khadgar came to the realization that this great wizard was planning to open a portal between Azeroth and Draenor and rushed to King Llan Wrynn to get a group of soldiers under the direction of Anduin Lothar.

Medivh was questioned by the group and discovered that Medivh was psychically connected to Gul'Dan, a warlock. Khadgar attacked his master and was able to stab the sword into his heart. However, Khadgar would lose his vitality and magical energy. With the energy he'd lost the body, he would lay his old master in Karazhan.

The Repercussions of Medivh's Death

The orcs would go on to destroy Stormwind and force the humans to flee to the kingdom of Lordaeron. Khadgar would flee with them, but the battle with Medivh would forever alter him. His life force would remain drained, leaving his face to take on the appearance of an old man with white hair. Luckily, he would still maintain the strength and agility of a young man.

Khadgar would be appointed the official liaison of the Council of Six to Anduin Lothar. He would be instrumental in helping combat the Horde during the Second War, and they would bring the orcs back to the Dark Portal. Anduin Lothar would be killed there, but Khadgar destroyed the place. He would oversee the construction of Nethergarde Keep to defend against another Draenor invasion and that invasion would soon be upon us.

Khadgar would later lead an expedition into Draenor to stop the Horde once and for all, after they tried to invade three times. He would be forced to close the portal from the other side and cut his forces off from Azeroth. The Alliance believed he perished and would commemorate him with the creation of a statue. They didn't know Khadgar was to become the main character of many World of Warcraft expansions.
