An integrated marathon for disabled and non-disabled people to improve awareness of disabilities will be held this weekend in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.

Special Olympics Korea announced on the 14th, "The 2023 Super Blue Marathon will be held at Peace Square, Peace Park, Mapo-gu, Seoul from 8 a.m. on the 17th."

The Super Blue Marathon, co-hosted by Special Olympics Korea and Lotte, has the slogan ‘A moment when we shine together.’

A total of 8,000 people, including 1,500 disabled participants, will run in four categories: half, 10 km, 5 km, and super blue 5 km (disabled course).

Participants wearing blue shoelaces shout out the 'Five Super Blue Promises' at the starting line and take the lead in improving misconceptions and expressions of people with disabilities.

At the pre-event 'Sunshine Running Class', singer Sean and developmentally disabled writer Kang Seon-ah taught systematic running methods to about 50 participants over 6 sessions.

Artist Kang Seon-ah personally designed the medals, stage, posters, and souvenirs for this marathon.

After the marathon, the second part of the event was scheduled to include an awards ceremony, a congratulatory performance by singer Koyote, and a Nanta performance by the disabled performance team Aryananta.

Experience booths and prize giveaways, including clown balloons, tattoo stickers, and face painting, were also prepared.

Lotte World's mascots 'Lotty' and 'Lori' will also attend the event.

All marathon participants will be provided with a Kolon T-shirt, eco bag, record certificate, finisher medal, and sports tape.

Lee Yong-hoon, Chairman of Special Olympics Korea, said, “We will strive to make the Super Blue Marathon a starting point for creating an integrated society where people with disabilities are not discriminated against and spreading good influence.”
