KBO Commissioner Heo Koo-yeon virtually secures second term with unanimous board approval for solo candidacy

KBO President Heo Koo-yeon.
Heo Koo-yeon, the president of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO), has unanimously passed the board of directors and is the sole candidate for president. He is virtually guaranteed a second term.
The KBO announced on Monday that it deliberated on the selection of a candidate for the 25th president at its fifth board meeting held at the Baseball Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and unanimously decided to nominate current president Heo Koo-yeon.
Heo has led the KBO since February, succeeding former president Chung Jeong-taek, who resigned in January. He served the remainder of Chung's term until Dec. 31 of this year.
He passed the board of directors, making it highly likely that he will be reappointed.
He was highly praised for his aggressive changes to strengthen international competitiveness, reorganize the KBO, and introduce the pitch clock and automatic ball-and-strike system (ABS).
He will officially begin his next term if he passes the KBO's upcoming general meeting of owners. According to Article 10 of the KBO's bylaws, Heo must receive an affirmative vote of at least three-quarters of the members present at the general meeting.
If successful, he will lead the KBO until 2026. 토토사이트
