KBL decides to classify ‘naturalized player’ Laguna’s status as a ‘foreign player’
Confirmed by the board of directors on the morning of the 17th

The Korea Basketball League (KBL) announced on the 17th that it has decided to classify the status of La Gun-ah, a special naturalized player, as a foreign player rather than a domestic player.
KBL held the 29th 7th Board of Directors meeting at the KBL Center this morning and decided to follow KBL's foreign player regulations for La Gun-ah starting from the 2024-2025 season.
La Gun-ah, who entered the Korean stage as a foreign player in 2012, received special naturalization recognition in January 2018 and became a naturalized player. Afterwards, he played in the domestic league and on the national team under a contract between a professional basketball team, the Korea Basketball Association, and the KBL.
Although the contract expiration date was approaching, Laguna's future status, contract method, period, size, and whether the contract with the Basketball Association would be extended were undecided.
Although he obtained Korean nationality, La Gun-ah has been classified as a foreign player in the domestic league.
Although he was a naturalized player who received separate allowances and was selected for the national team, there were voices saying that he should be recognized as a domestic player as he is a Korean national.
However, through this board meeting, Laguna will be subject to the foreign player regulations in the new season as well. Laguna was born in 1989 and is 35 years old, but she still showed off her skills. Heo Woong, Song Kyo-chang, Choi Jun-yong, and Lee Seung-hyun's 'super team' made a splash at Busan KCC, contributing to the 5th place team in the regular league advancing to the championship game and winning for the first time in professional basketball history. In particular, he was on fire with an average of 22 points and 12.3 rebounds in 12 playoff games. 사설토토
