Cherokee Casino Resort in Harrah's completes fall expansion
Hara's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, N.C., will complete a four-year expansion project this fall. The $250 million development, which began construction in June 2018, includes a new 725-room hotel tower, 83,000 square feet of convention space, and new food and beverage offerings.
"We are excited to see this project complete and to be able to provide new amenities and offerings to our guests," said Brooks Robinson, regional senior vice president and general manager of Harah's Cheroke Casino. "This expansion has been an integral part of the growth of our property and community, and helps show that Harah's Cheroke Casino Resort is truly a destination like no other in Carolina. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning visitors to see the results of this project."
When completed, the expansion is as follows:
Cherokee people at the Cherokee Resort in Hara
Becoming the resort's fourth hotel tower, Cherokee will begin welcoming guests this fall. Adjacent to the newly opened convention center, the 19-story tower has 725 rooms and seven suites, with burned-out Sienna, golden and charcoal-gray accents and a mixture of eucalyptus and walnut trees.
Setting the new standard of luxury, the dramatic aesthetic begins as soon as it arrives in the outdoor lobby on the second floor. Guests are welcomed by a 30-foot registration desk made of onyx stone in front of a custom-made walnut wood carving tree design lit to create an abstract representation of the Smoky Mountains. The 50-seat lobby bar and lounge are highlighted by sky blue marble walls lined with terraced wine bottles.
On the second floor, there is a terrace swimming pool in the tower with sweeping views of the mountain as well as a fitness center. Providing private entrances to the swimming pool are two 800 square feet of dedicated hospitality suites, complete with a full kitchen.
Cherokee Convention Center
The resort will also open 83,000 square feet of new conference and convention space this fall, more than three times the current rental convention space in Cherokee, Hara. The three-stage expansion provides a variety of conference spaces for both small and large groups, all with unique mountain backgrounds. Highlighted by a 32,000-square-foot ballroom, the Cherokee Convention Center also features pre-featured ballrooms, 26 conference spaces, and an exhibition hall.
In addition to the expansion project, several new gaming amenities and food and beverage products were already released earlier this year, with additional releases to follow in the coming months:
