This works even with live videos that are supposedly only accessible to subscribers. I have never been averse to this. My home internet is very slow and unreliable. This is due to the fact that I use the wifi mobile hotspot at the motel. I often deliver water to their offices, and I also get their password which is changed every two weeks. This helps me save money by purchasing my own home Internet. Furthermore, I don't have cable therefore, this requires an additional installation. I just saved the online video on my computer so I could play it again without having to stream it again.




Here's what I've been up to lately.. I open Chrome browser, Firefox, Safari or any other browser that has an inspect tab. Right-click on the page. Call the inspect page. After that, switch to network and search for the video playback files. It will usually contain the extension m3u8. Sometimes it may be something with another extension. However, those characters are present, and will be indicating a particular playlist for the video stream. What happens is that your video stream is broken up into a number of smaller files which your internet browser downloads one after another and plays them in order, making sure that you get a continuous video stream. This is a simple process that requires more transfer to complete than the size of the file. However, this is how the MPEG stream is created and we shouldn’t complain.



Finally, I right-click the playlist file and copy its URL (into my clipboard), then navigate to the site that permits me to download video online. After a while I click the submit button and paste the URL of my video playlist. I am then presented with a variety of options to download, each indicating how large and how long it will take to download. The higher quality file is, the larger it'll get. I prefer the lower quality file even though it's too slow for my Internet.



I have set the download of the file, usually it's mp4 format for video. It's a long process but the end result is well worth it. Since I'm unable to tune in live, saving live streaming to my laptop is the best option. This is what I do to stay current on the latest information available.
