Cryptic Tweet From Minecraft Developers Gives Hints About 1.18 Update Coming Soon

Mojang, a Minecraft developer has announced in October that the second part of their massive Caves and Cliffs update would be available in "a month or more". It looks like it's almost time, since Mikael "slicedlime" Hedberg, the lead tech for Minecraft Java Edition, just tweeted something cryptic:

It might not be much, but Mojang employees are known for using Twitter to tease upcoming features - or accidentally doing so, at least and the tone of the tweet specifically "pre-paring" suggests the possibility of a pre-release for Caves and Cliffs part 2.

Pre-releases typically come just a few days or even weeks prior to the official launch of the new update and serve as a bridge between "snapshots" which are the testing of new features that players can choose to use as well as the full update, which is hopefully as close to being completed as possible. 1.17's last update was released on May 27th. Getspout update was released on June 8th.

What is this implying? It means that we won't have much time to wait for the 1.18 update, which will bring an amazing new world generation to Minecraft worlds. It might even come before the end of November!

Mojang also announced in this year's Minecraft Live presentation that the Deep Dark biome and its new mob, The Warden, would be pushed back to 2022's update, The Wild.

Is your server up for the update? Have you been trying out the snapshots? Let us know in the comments!
