Minecraft is an open-world video game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. On September 15, 2014, Microsoft announced a deal to purchase Mojang and the rights to the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion. The acquisition was completed on the 6th of November in 2014.
