Urgent Recall of Big Kids Shoes over Potentially Deadly Defect

Eight popular light-up shoes that were sold at Big W are being immediately recalled

Product Safety Australia has recalled Caprice Australia's light-up thongs due to concerns that the two batteries could pose a safety hazard for young youngsters.

There are many design options for thongs, such as Frozen, Spiderman and Star Wars. OMG, and Minecraft.

PSA said that the tiny battery compartment inside the thongs could become exposed over time which could make access to the two tiny buttons more accessible to children.

It stated that young children may inhale the button batteries and suffer serious internal burns that could cause serious illness , or even death.

The thongs are available online and in-store at Big W since September 7, 2020, but they have not been sold since May 11, 2022.

Customers are advised to immediately stop wearing the shoes and return them to any Big W Australia store for a full refund.
