Deepworld Launches a Kickstarter Project to Fund A Mac Beta

Deepworld is a 2D Sandbox-style building platform that is similar to Minecraft. I met them at GDC in March and informed them that it would be bigger than they expected. They have a lot of experience in developing servers and software, but running a game of this size requires an investment of a significant amount. It appears they are now are in agreement. Kickstarter was established to raise money early for development and servers.

The group is offering a variety of prizes to their supporters which include your own servers and worlds, as well as art books and other merchandise. You also have the option to get your own items as well as names and pictures to use in the game. The goal is to raise $20,000 in total and at the time of writing, the group has raised about $4,000. They plan to make the project a full-time job and this funding will allow them to do that.

I certainly wish them the best. free 51 Deepworld looks great and I was with you when I first saw it. I think the Mac (and iOS) would greatly benefit from a game like that.
