North Raleigh's days-long search for a venomous zebra cobra ends with a glue trap.

Following many hours of consultation and preparation by Animal Control officers, a glue trap was ultimately deployed to capture a venomous zebra cobra on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday, ending an eventful 48-hour period that attracted attention throughout North Carolina.

It was taken to a safer location to be fully cleaned after it was guided into the bucket and guided out.

An earlier image captured by WRAL show the snake scrabbling to the front porch of a house on Sandringham Drive, crawling through the siding. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.

Camera crews were moved back after the officers confirmed it was the snake before attempting to catch it.

Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

The North Carolina capital is Raleigh. Following hours of consultation and preparation by Raleigh police and animal control officers, a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night, coming to an end in North Carolina after nearly 48 hours of turmoil.

After guiding the cobra into a bucket, the glue over its body was carefully removed.

A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. When it lifted its head to look around, the top of its hood was visible.

The Wildlife Control officers moved camera crews back after confirming that this is the snake, then went in to attempt to capture it.

Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

The ordeal is over at last, said neighbor Joan Nelson.

She said she was really happy and that she felt much safer now. It feels good to be able to walk on the deck and outside. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. His Facebook account shows several pictures of snakes he claims are owned by his son, Christopher, according to the account.

The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. On one of his posts, he claims to own a 7-foot zebra cobra.
