Pithoragarh, the easternmost district of Uttarakhand, shares borders with both Nepal and Tibet. Often called the 'Little Kashmir' of Uttarakhand, it is renowned for the spectacular Panchachuli massif and the Milam Glacier. The Kali river forms its boundary with Nepal. Munsiyari, gateway to the Johar valley, is one of Uttarakhand's finest hill destinations. The district is the base for Adi Kailash and Om Parvat pilgrimages. The Raji tribe — one of India's most marginalised indigenous groups — inhabits its forests. The Lipulekh Pass (5,334 m), a route to Kailash-Mansarovar, is in this district.
